The Latin American and Caribbean Network of Fair Trade Small Producers and Workers Workers (CLAC) is the Latin American producer network co-owner of the Fairtrade International. CLAC is the network that represents all Faritrade certified organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as other Fair Trade organizations. CLAC´s mission is to represent and promote the interests, empowerment and development of its members and their communities.
CLAC provides a series of services to the near 1,000 Fairtrade certified organizations, which include workshops and training on Fairtrade standards, sustainable production, human rights, as well as the development of cooperation projects and the mobilization of resources. CLAC also has lines of work related to advocacy, planning, monitoring, and learning about the impact of fair trade.
Luis Fernando is a very curious boy. Luis lives with his mother, Deisy, close to the house of his grandma Luz, associate of the Cooperativa de Caficultores de Salgar in Antioquia, Colombia.
Through the Commercial Directorate, CLAC seeks to establish new market opportunities for Fairtrade certified organizations both in the countries of the North and in the Latin American and Caribbean region. CLAC member organizations are grouped into 7 product networks that develop their own strategies for market development.
Fair trade is a business model that puts human beings and the social, economic and environmental sustainability of societies at the center; dignifying work, respecting the environment and promoting responsible and sustainable management of natural resources.
