The Cocoa Forum in Punta Cana – Dominican Republic will bring together national and international experts from the cocoa industry, representatives of the Fairtrade system, buyers, importers, retailers, producers from Africa, and the 105 organizations that are part of the CLAC – CocoaNetwork from 9 countries in the region, which produce more than 76,000 Metric Tons per year under organic agriculture and agroforestry systems on around 155,000 hectares, and which are the origin of 96% of the organic and Fairtrade cocoa supply.
During three days the participants will have the opportunity to learn about market trends, regulations and requirements for the product. innovations, challenges advances in the Fairtrade cocoa industry and sustainability projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Cocoa is one of the main export products of the Dominican Republic and the country is among the first organically certified grain producers in the world; however, there are challenges and opportunities for the more than 16,000 Dominican cocoa farmers and nearly 54,000 of total producers in the countries where the Latin American and Caribbean Netwok of Small Producers and Workers (CLAC) Is present.

CLAC COCOA NETWORK
The Cocoa Network is one of the Product Networks of the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Fair Trade Small Producers and Workers (CLAC), that represents and gathers 105 Small Producer Organizations of Fairtrade cocoa in 9 countries in the Latin American region and has the objective of presenting to CLAC´s board of directors the needs and/or problems the cocoa producer organizations face, and to provide the technical support to CLAC´s and the other product networks work.
